Wanted – Items for Newborns

The Isis Rising Prison Doula Program helps pregnant women incarcerated at Shakopee Prison, providing birthing education and guidance during labor and delivery. The babies stay with the mothers only a few days. Some babies then go with the mother’s family to await her release from prison; and others go to a social agency. I am collecting items for these babies, at least for their trip home:  baby hats, booties, and/or blankets. The items can be gifted OFF PRISON GROUNDS ONLY; and the doulas have agreed to make these available to the adult(s) taking the baby [family members, agency workers. Though the mommies will not be able to be the first to dress their babies in these gifts, they are reportedly excited at the prospect of their children receiving such “Happy Birthday” gifts.
